Pork and Sauerkraut Roast

1The longer this cooks the better. The combination of flavors makes for a easy and tasty meal. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans if desired.

Ingredients:

  • 2-4 lb bone in pork roast, pork loin or pork chops
  • 32 oz pkg sauerkraut and its liquid
  • 1 can or bottle of beer
  • 6 whole garlic cloves
  • salt and pepper

Slow Cooker Directions:

  1. Rinse pork, pat dry and remove all visible fat. Lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  2. Place pork in slow cooker.
  3. Add sauerkraut on top and then sprinkle with garlic cloves.
  4. Pour beer over sauerkraut.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.

Comments:

- If using pork chops, place half of pork chops in the slow cooker. Add half of sauerkraut and half of garlic cloves. Repeat next layer and pour beer over top layer.

- This recipe can also be done in a 250 degree oven. Slow roast in a covered Dutch oven for 3 to 4 hours until fork tender.

- Add a tsp of caraway seeds.
